Vibration Analysis

Mechanical equipment in motion generates a vibration signature regardless of the speed or mode of operation. Vibration analysis uses vibration information to evaluate the condition of machinery and structures. Data is collected using an instrument that obtains a full–spectrum vibration signature at 3 axes at each end of the drive and driven components.  Knowing that certain rotating components have distinct vibration signatures, our technicians can identify when there is a mechanical fault by testing for vibration inconsistencies.

Vibration analysis is an excellent condition-monitoring tool to decrease unscheduled downtime. Experienced analysts can use this specialized technology to periodically monitor equipment and identify mechanical, electrical and lubrication faults prior to failure. Condition-monitoring programs become even more precise when vibration analysis is combined with infrared thermography and ultrasonic analysis.

  Applications

  • Mechanical (rotating) equipment integrity testing
  • Equipment commissioning
  • Machine lubrication detection
  • Equipment balancing

Benefits

  • Provides a baseline vibration reading for equipment under normal operating conditions
  • Provides historical trending of vibration signatures
  • Normal monitoring will ensure the integrity of your rotating equipment
  • Can "predict" equipment faults long before most other forms of preventative maintenance
